The Center for Wisdom Healing Qigong Opening in New Mexico
Qigong is one of China’s most esteemed cultural treasures. Originating in China more than 5,000 years ago, qigong was a secretive practice shared exclusively with nobility and related bloodline lineages up until the time of the Cultural Revolution. Qigong continues to be one of the most powerful elixirs for optimum health on the planet today.
Over millennia, many forms of qigong have emerged. One of the most powerful forms was developed in the 1980s by Qigong Grandmaster Dr. Ming Pang. As a physician trained in both Eastern and Western medicine, Pang developed the healing system of Wisdom Healing Qigong (Zhineng Qigong) by integrating ancient alchemy practices with modern medicine. Pang founded the Huaxia Zhineng Qigong Training and Recovery Center in China— the world’s largest medicine-less qigong center—and, during the twenty years the healing center was open, published more than 3,000 research papers on the healing effects of Wisdom Healing Qigong.
Internationally recognized qigong teacher and healer Master Mingtong Gu studied Zhineng Qigong under the tutelage of Dr. Pang at his Center in China. Bringing the time honored practices of Wisdom Healing Qigong to the West, Master Gu synthesized this qigong healing system into a framework for modern-day living. He founded the The Chi Center in 2001, and moved the office onto the campus of the Institute of Noetic Sciences in Petaluma, California in 2008. This served as the temporary headquarters until Gu was able to fulfill his dream of opening a residential qigong retreat center in North America.
Master Gu auspiciously manifested his vision right here in New Mexico. He purchased the Vista Clara Ranch and Spa in Galisteo this past spring and is opening the Center for Wisdom Healing Qigong on October 1. This healing retreat center is the continuation and expansion of the same vision realized in China at the Huaxia Center.
Speaking with Master Gu about the inspiration that led him to purchase the Vista Clara Ranch, the mission of the new center, and the magic of the Southwest, Master Gu beamed with joy while talking about his new venture: “The Center for Wisdom Healing Qigong will be the only qigong retreat center in North America dedicated to a whole system of qigong that addresses healing on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. The Center will serve as a physical portal for connecting people locally and globally to the self-healing and self-empowering approach of Wisdom Healing Qigong. It will also be a place that energetically supports the expansion and integration of all wisdom traditions and wellness modalities.” Restoring wholeness in ourselves, and our world, is Master Gu’s inspired vision for all of us.
A great deal of thought went into the original design of the Vista Clara, including the kiva, a spectacular circular building set into the earth, reminiscent of ancient ceremonial temples. Master Gu talked about the influences that led him to purchase the spa: “Energetically, the kiva is so powerful. I feel like I am in the womb of Mother Earth, totally supported and nourished.” The kiva and land connect us with the reciprocity of the natural world, and is a gift for everyone’s benefit. Revealing his connection to the beauty and magic of the New Mexican landscape, Master Gu went on to say, “The union of heaven and earth is tangible on this land; there is a deep primal life force at work here. The historical energy of Native American and Spanish cultures are very much alive on this property, and it fills me with awe.” This will be an ideal place to honor ourselves, our community, our ancestors, and our kinship with the Earth.
People from around the world will be gathering at the new retreat center to awaken and heal their body, mind, and heart through the daily practices and teachings of Wisdom Healing Qigong. The center will become a powerful energetic gateway to health, promoting peace, harmony and love for generations to come.
